Many grocery stores these days have a fully equipped salad bar where raw vegetables can be purchased by the pound. One good option is Whole Foods Market, an organic food grocery store that has a hot and cold bar stocked with raw and cooked vegetables, including a salad bar. The selection is usually large, although it’s more expensive than the average salad bar at a grocery store. Whole Foods even has a place to sit and enjoy a meal.
Eat More Vegetables When Traveling: What to Do in a Pinch
Bring along a cooler filled with chopped fruits and veggies in plastic bags. These are great in a pinch and having them reduces the number of stops that need to be made to get a snack.
If it becomes too challenging to find a restaurant or grocery store that serves vegetables and fruits, stop at a food market and pick up fresh organic fruit that’s not messy to eat in the car such as apples, pears, peaches, or grapes and a few cans of V8 juice to munch on throughout the day. Remember, a cup of V8 juice counts as a serving of vegetables.
